Found another kit from my wish list ^^ Zaku I’s head looks like a skull, lolz…
Model: MS-05L Zaku I Sniper Type
Scale: 1/144
The box art:

I colored the left shoulder armour black to add some ’special-ops’ feel, since the best snipers are always special operation personnels. I also did some touchup on the gun, backpack and the knee extender.
There are altogether 5 hands provided: 2 right hands, 3 left hands. However, there are only 4 hand covers.

The arm joints can swivel back and forth as shown below. This is to enable the Zaku to display the sniping position.

The Zaku is armed with two type of weapons. The main weapon will be the sniper rifle, while the secondary weapon is the normal rifle. Both rifles need major touch-up as the original color is very stale.

Posing with the secondary weapon^^

Now this got to be the ‘mother of all backpacks’. It reminds me of the ion backpacks from the Ghostbusters cartoon, lolz… Silver paint is needed to enhance the mechanical feel.

All beef up and ready to go:

The knee extender allows the Zaku to achieve the sniping position:

Big backpack, big gun… nice^^

This is my 3rd Zaku, and I am well pleased with the touch-up effort put into this one.
I had ordered this kit last year, but the online seller accidentally sold it to another buyer. So I was glad when this kit actually arrived at my doorstep.
This is my 2nd attempt at building MG after the Strike Gundam IWSP. The level of difficulty for this kit is on par with most HG kits, thus everything was a breeze.
Model: MG XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero
Scale: MG 1/100
Year Obtained: 2009
Very skillful packaging by the online seller…

The box art and inner cover-

Messy messy…

This is what the term ‘chicken legs’ actually mean =D

Inner frame… I painted it silver. Kinda reminds me of the T-800 terminator exoskeleton, lolz…

With twin buster cannon… was in a hurry so i didn’t attempt its classic pose.

The highlight of the Zero is its wing unit. Shown here in its closed position:

Wing unit fully opened:

Poses:

I only have 2 complaints about this kit:
(a) the connection between the wing unit and the upper torso is not secure (tight) enough, causing the main body to snap off easily when you are trying to adjust the wing unit.
(b) there is no room to open the machine gun hatch without lifting the head unit. And if i do lift the head, it will be sticking out like a giraffe.
Other than that, it’s all fine. Wings wings wings…
One of my wish-list came true when i found this kit on sale. After some bargaining, I got it at a discount ^^
The Acguy is quite different from the traditional Gundam designs. Even though its a 1/144 HG kit, it offers plenty of inner mechanical details one would expect from the MG version. Due to the extra parts, it gives the completed Acguy a heavier and sturdy feel.
Model: MSM-04 Acguy
Scale: 1/144
Year Obtained: 2009

Construction in progress…

I think the anime designers took the crab as the main inspiration for the Acguy. The body does resemble the underbelly of the crab… lolz…

Woohoo! The mechanical details in this 1/144 kit makes its a gem in its class. I had the details painted silver and black. The red mono-eye can move around the front, top and back.

Back view with the backpack thrusters…

Now for some stretching…

Various parts for both hands. You can display the Acguy with the claws extended/closed or with the torpedo launchers . The two dark brown objects are the arm extenders.

Optional parts to display the one-hand Acguy…

With the outer armor attached, it dwarfs the RX-78-2.

Begging for dear life… Its always nice to poke fun at the hero characters, lolzzz…

In my opinion, this is the best HG kit to date. 10/10. For those who feel their interest in Gunpla waning, this is the perfect tonic to rekindle one’s interest ^^
Desperate for these 1/144 kits… just like some of the MGs in Dreamlist 1, some kts in this list are probably extinct too =(
1. RX-78 NT-1 Gundam
2. MSM-04 Acguy
3. MS-05L Zaku I Sniper Type
4. MVF-M11C Murasame
5. ORB-01 Shinarui Akatsuki Gundam

6. RGM-79 Powered GM

6. Zaku Ground Attack Set
I do see some of these kits around, but their price has been blown out of proportion. For example the zaku sniper was selling for RM80… which is pure craziness.
Oh well, one can always dream and hope.
The perfect world list continues…
These are from the 1/100 range.
1. 1/100 ZGMF -X666S Legend Gundam

2. 1/100 GN-001/hs-AO1 Gundam Avalanche Exia

3. MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame

4. MBF-04 Gundam Astray Green Frame

Up next: 1/144 dream list…
The dream continues^^
Collecting Gunpla is a costly hobby. Thus one should always be selective and have self-control over the urge to buy buy buy! IMHO, you should only purchase a kit which you feel a ‘connection’ with.
This is a personal reminder for me about the kits which I had missed due to bad timing or lack of $$ … Some of these kits are probably extinct.
1. MG RX-79 [G] Gundam
2. MG MSM-04 Acguy
3. MG MS-06R High Mobility Type Zaku II Black TriStars Ver.2
4. MG ZGMF -X42S Destiny Gundam

5. MG MS-06F Zaku II Ver.2.0

6. MG RB-79 Ball

7. MG RX-78-2 Gundam Ver O.Y.W

8. MG MS-06R-1A Zaku II Shin Matsunaga Custom

Next up: 1/100 wish list…
if only this is a perfect world…
This is too cool! I had been searching this kit for a long time, and finally found it! Introducing Dom Trooper from Seed Destiny, released way back in 2005. .. not to be mistaken with the HGUC Dom Trooper^^
Model: ZGMF-XX09T Dom Trooper
Scale: 1/144
Year Obtained: 2009

Many accessories are included: stand, 3 types of design for the left hand, 1 kickass bazooka and 1 beam saber.

The highlight of this kit is the jet stream attack, but the kit only has parts for 1 Dom Trooper. This is the sample from the manual. BTW that’s not blood… its only red paint.

Ya-taaaa!. The Dom may not appeal so some people as it is bulky… but IMHO thats what makes it so awesomeee ^^

Notice that I applied white foil stickers above the exhaust vents. Red and black need to be painted at some areas.

Goodies hidden under the skirt armour. Thrusters too need to be painted red. I used red paint marker as opposed to Gundam Markers…

These markings represent each of the 3 Dom units. The pilots are Hilda Haagen (003), Herbert von Reinhart (004) and Mars Simeon (009). I chose not to ‘contaminate’ my Dom with these stickers… or at least until I have all 3 units.

Overall this is a standard HG kit with the expected quality from Bandai. Looking forward to the 1/100 Astray Gold Frame ^^
Happy April Fool’s day!
Today I would like to showcase one of my earliest attempts at plastic modelling…
As shown in http://thianern.wordpress.com/2008/11/10/my-old-macross-models/ , this was completed way back more-or-less in 1998.
This is not a snap-fit model so lots of UHU glue was used. Glue and paint were required to finish this kit. I mainly used black and red permanent markers (never even heard of panel lining or removing nub marks back then).
This is a level 3 rated model in hlj.com , so i guess i should be proud since it does look half decent, lolz…
So for memories sake… Taa-daa…

The one drawback by ARII is the separation of parts in the middle as evident in the chest and leg area… and sometimes the parts do not fit well.
After all these years, it is still in good condition. This will be with me for many years to come.
Aha finally got my hands on this issue… which was obviously released 2 monhts ago in January. Bought it for RM16 at a local newsstand. Can’t really complain at the slightly crumpled box… I m just happy i got it ^^
The kit which I had highly anticipated… the GN-XXX Gundam Rasiel

Everyone is familiar with Bandai’s range of grade… but Dengeki uses FG (Furoku Grade). No idea what it means…

There is only 1 set of runners … with 31 parts altogether. Completely moulded in white.

There are plenty of coloured pictures for accurate painting.

Instructions on how to modify parts to allow normal flexibility. One will also notice that the instructions show polycaps being used.

Modifying it would be too much for me (i.e. me screwing things up), lolz.
